JEFF M. BARNES
Meet the Designer
"When you do what you love all the other stuff falls into place."
Jeff is an art historian, art director, photographer, antique dealer, designer and Francophile—which is a fancy way of saying he lives and breathes style, stories, and conceptual storytelling with a French twist.
With a sharp eye for detail and a mind full of art history, iconography, and methodology, Jeff brings a witty, maximalist spirit to everything he touches (minimalism is fine… if there’s no other option). He’s created standout work for iconic retailers like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Williams Sonoma, and has steered digital design projects for major clients including Procter & Gamble, Eli Lilly, and C.H. Guenther.
Whether it’s a 19th-century daguerrotype or a cutting-edge e-commerce site, Jeff approaches design with curiosity, intellect, and just the right amount of irreverence.
"It's my job to be a custodian of emotion, sentiment and the symbols of unspoken realities. Like Monsieur Mallarmé, it is my job to tell stories, to interpret symbols of love, sadness, regret, aspiration, hope and optimism through flowers."
